Quote from strainer on Nov 16th, 2009, 8:31pm:Is anybody more disappointed in President Obama than myself? Don't get me wrong, I think his heart is in a good place but I can't defend Him anymore against the people who warned me ( They are all progressives/left wingers ). I am watching the Afghanistan decision very closely. Bailout and the stimilus package was necessary but not without caveats, John Dimor seems to be the de factor Chancellor of the Exchequer. I'm not disappointed in him one bit. I still would vote for him if the elections were today. Would you rather have Sarah Palin & McCain? I guess that I never lived in the dreamworld of thinking that ANY President of political official was going to do every single thing I'd ever hoped for nor that I would always be in agreement with every decision. I also still believe that NO one other than the President or former President knows what that position entails and the stress and the pressure. Heck, he hasn't even held the position for a year yet and came into the office with some serious ish to confront. I never thought it would come out of my mouth, but I have to admit that there have been times that I've actually had to say that I wish he was more like the son of a Bush in way of not giving a crap about what the naysayers are saying and just do what he wanted, but I still have confidence that I made the right choice. Please, palin and the ole guy don't even figure in adult dialogue. The point is,His reasonableness is an asset and a fault. We know OB sees way beyond the trees, but the trees need to be nourished too. No one can deny that the banks have gotten away with murder, he knows, everybody knows. Reason is that they have Him and the country in their paws, however his title is President and it means something. Symbolic as it is,he still needs to stand up for people like Van Jones, same way he stands up for Geithner, thats all. I would vote for him everytime and your other post is right, where are all the people. Every progressive book I have read makes the point that executives make the right decisions, when they are pressured to. So he needs to say everytime, "people make me do it". |

Russell makes some good points in his blog today on Global Grind: We need more people to speak out and to stand publicly with President Obama. Millions who voted are now way too silent, too passive and too willing to be patient with injustice. As the attacks from the right have increased, many people in our country have begun to question their faith and hope in change. At times, especially in the media, the chorus of few seem to outnumber the songs of the masses. But we know that the same young, progressive voices that helped elect the President are more powerful than any attack that can be launched. So, let us not be afraid, but rather empowered to continue to promote an agenda rooted in love, compassion and kindness. It is not just the President that needs to stand strong, we as citizens of America must play our part too. We must not forget that America is a nation built on all religions, races, creeds and cultures. I have committed my life working with the Foundation For Ethnic Understanding to promote dialogue among races, religions and ethnicities. I have witnessed first hand the results from dialogue without condition. http://globalgrind.com/content/1157841/True-Patriots-Are-Not-Silent-They-Speak-O

Cannibalism by another name: "Gang Killed People For Their Fat" Much is usually made of mostly illiterate people murdering others for their body parts to be used in 'witchcraft'. Literate Europeans will have people killed for the body fat to be used as cosmetics, or have the body parts of the deceased to repair their bodies. What happens when the timeless values of virtue (Laws of Life & Rules for Living) are not deeply ingrained in minds when they are young? Humans grow up to be fiends, worse than the beasts. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/20/gang-killed-people-for-th_n_364783.html

*have to say I'm really confused about this one..... Semenya Keeping Medals, Test Results Private Date: Friday, November 20, 2009, 5:11 am By: Donna Bryson, Associated Press JOHANNESBURG (AP) — South African runner Caster Semenya will keep her 800-meter gold medal from the world championships, and the results of her gender tests will be kept confidential, the South African sports ministry said Thursday. However, the question of whether she remains eligible to compete as a woman remained uncertain. The ministry also said in a statement that the International Association of Athletics Federations has agreed to allow the 18-year-old Semenya to keep her prize money. "Because Caster has been found to be innocent ... she will then retain her gold medal," the ministry said. On Wednesday, the IAAF said the gender tests performed on Semenya had not been completed. The track and field governing body had been expected to announce its findings Friday. On Thursday, the IAAF said it was sticking by its statement and could not confirm the South African ministry statements. "Whatever scientific tests were conducted legally within the IAAF regulations will be treated as a confidential matter between patient and doctor," the sports ministry said. "As such there will be no public announcement of what the panel of scientists has found. We urge all South Africans and other people to respect this professional ethical and moral way of doing things." Before the 800 final in Berlin, the IAAF said it had ordered gender tests because of Semenya's muscular build and rapid improvement in times. The case caused outrage in South Africa, and the IAAF was accused of violating her privacy. South African track officials were accused of failing to protect her. Australian newspapers said in September that Semenya has male and female sexual organs, but the IAAF has refused to confirm or deny those reports. After Athletics South Africa president Leonard Chuene admitted he lied about gender tests being conducted on Semenya in South Africa before the worlds, South African Olympic committee officials suspended him and the rest of the track body's 12-member board. The Olympic committee appointed one of its members, Ray Mali, as ASA's administrator. When Mali moved into the track body's Johannesburg offices this week, one suspended ASA official had to be escorted from the premises by police. The sports ministry said Thursday it had asked the IAAF to apologize for its role, and had received this response: "It is deeply regrettable that information of a confidential nature entered the public domain." The IAAF also told the sports ministry it was not the source of leaks about the case. http://www.blackamericaweb.com/?q=articles/news/the_black_diaspora_news/14399 |
