No singing the Blues for Blu.

If you are thinking she is like everybody else, you are in for a pleasant surprise when you meet Blufox. The name alone gets you thinking…its definitely unusual…and then you meet her. If her indomitable personality does not win you over her fantastic voice certainly will. Yea, yea you know she is a singer… but she reeaallllly can sing. Her strong raspy voice sends chills down your spine… and oh what power. You literally step back in awe.
This beautiful little lady with a really big voice and a light-hearted personality to die for has been blessed in no uncertain way by the gods.
Born into a successful middle class family, Blu (as she likes to be called) took the risqué road and turned to the entertainment industry to fulfil her life’s passions. She was born in New York, but spent most of her holidays in Jamaica where her mothers’ family still lives. Her mother is a businesswoman currently pursing her masters’ degree, her father a lawyer and her only sister an engineer. And what does Blue do? After studying Broadcast Journalism at college, she follows her heart.
But it takes more than a strong constitution to determine she can be a success in the business. Girlfriend has talent. Not only can she sing, but she writes her own stuff too. Ridiculous as it may sound her first ever song was written when she was seven (she woke up from dream with the song in her head) and so named the song “Ridiculous”. That was just the beginning. For years after that she specialized in poetry, a hobby, which she now claims, is responsible for her song writing abilities. And during the period, as with so many other artists her singing talents were honed in Church.
After finishing school she did a brief stint (1 year) as a radio personality and at Microsoft but gave it up after making a conscious decision to give her everything to her music.
With the voice of Lauren Hill and the look of Alysia Keys, Blu intends to go places. Her sound is kind of neo soul meets reggae, she calls it Rebel Soul…soul music that breaks the rules. She knows its good and every body is looking for good music, right?
So she came back to her Jamaican roots to begin her career. She teamed up with Sly and Robbie, the phenomenal rhythm makers, has produced a song with Alley Cat and Andy Anderson, DJ Arsonist and Pregs from Mile High. She is about to do a lovers rock collaboration with Leon (of Cool Runnings and Temptations fame).
Brains, talent and beauty, Blu intends to go far with her music. But she won’t stop there. She really wants to get into acting. Sorry fellows she has no time for a committed relationship now. Like she says, it’s a competitive market you have to keep on top of things and focus. So she sings everyday. In her down time she reads, takes walks and buys herself daisies (her happy flower).
Look out everybody…this new star is about to take over the heavens.
