By: Kerry- Ann Bercher, Go-Jamaica Writer

"Me just love the music ting!", said young upcoming artiste, 'Cassie Hype' as he spoke of his passion for music, which he describes as 'in his blood'. Born February 12, 1984, this talented Aquarian wants to take his talent to entertain to another level.

Cousin of Innocent Crew's Benzly Hype, Jermaine Morris, an only son, grew up with 2 sisters and both parents, Rose and Lascelles Morris in Seaview Gardens.

"Apart from the violence, growing up was great. Catching crocodiles, hanging out with friends, performing for friends and family… I had a good childhood. Seaview was like a college for me because I learnt a lot of things."

While being a Sergeant in Cadet, Jermaine attended Edith Dalton James High School where he went up to grade 10. He was unable to commence grade 11 because of gang violence in the area, so he was privately tutored.

From the young age of 10, Jermaine, who was affectionately called 'Cassie' because of his cast eye and because he was a reserved person, so they considered him to be 'hype', hence the name 'Cassie Hype'. He was always encouraged by his cousin Carrie Campbell aka 'Macka Head' from Innocent Crew, to develop his talent to DJ into a career. With that, his inspiration came alive. He wrote his first song at age 10 entitled 'Education'.

From there, Jermaine began his quest for stardom as he performed at a number of shows such as Teen Splash, Spring Break, GT Extravaganza, Follow The Arrow. He's has been all over performing at shows in Negril, Portland and Montego Bay with stars such as Assassin, and the Red Square Family.

"A real garrison youth… him song dem deep, him keep it real ", said Cassie as he spoke of his favourite DJ, Bounty Killer.

Jermaine Morris aka Cassie Hype, says he brings positive music to the mixture, music that will encourage and inspire. Through his music he targets the younger part of the society. Through his music he want to send messages of hope and inspiration. His music is to encourage them to stay focused, work hard and stay away from trouble.

With his musical aspirations set overseas, winning grammies and becoming one of the greatest DJ's Jamaica has ever seen, he wishes to work with artistes such as Bounty Killer, Assassin, Sizzla and Berris Hammond.

Working on his dreams and staying focused is what Cassie Hype is set on doing. Ambitious and talented…a young man fulfilling his dream.
