"KINGSTON STATE OF MIND"

Kingston State of Mind Video Premiere...more>>>

Zlink Entertainment and Sly & Robbie present the brilliant voice of Cherine Anderson on "Kingston State Of Mind "; a reality charged song on the Darker Shade of Black Riddim.

CHERINE ANDERSON:
In writing "Kingston State of Mind ", Cherine chose not to play it safe. According to the rising star, "I think this is the most vulnerable I've been on any recording to date. I love writing smooth roots ballads ("Good Love ", "Coming Over Tonight"), but as the product of several Jamaican inner city communities, I felt compelled to address pressing issues of the day. Kingston is in a crazy state right now, with over 100 dead, barely two months into the New Year. But I don't think the situation is limited to my hood." Currently sitting atop the charts with the #1 song and video "Coming Over Tonight ", she really touches a raw nerve with "Kingston State of Mind ".

SLY DUNBAR :
Producer Sly Dunbar states: "Kingston State of Mind" is an awakening to people about di killing in Jamaica and even the rest of the world. It addresses the struggles of single mothers, women, children, people and how di politician dem need to achieve power at any cost...The whole objective is to bring attention to the senseless killings in not just Jamaica, Haiti, and across di Caribbean, but di world... showing how war and power struggle affect people, and we musicians as people who grow up in di ghetto, the people looking to us to do something."

DAVID RODIGAN:
It has been a very long time since I was as moved as I was after listening the new recording, "Kingston State of Mind". What a magnificent song, with that haunting opening of glorious voices...the song describes in such a moving way the dark tragedy that exists within the inner city and the hopelessness of the situation for the poor souls who are subjected to fear and degradation. I sat motionless and felt the shivers literally go up my spine while listening to this very powerful song.
