colloCOLLO

By: Dayne Morrison

'So weh dem a seh Collo?"

Right in the busy metropolis of Half-Way Tree across the street from the park, you can find one of Kingston's undisputed street dancing champions. The bright, flashy clothing and big silver chains and buckles are reminiscent of the late Mr. Wacky as is his flamboyant personality.

As the originator of the infectious 'Stookie' and 'Rhum-Rham' dances, Collo-Collo is surely making his presence felt in Dancehall.

Today his attire is spectacular. He is warning a close-fitting Moschino shirt, colossal belt-buckle with fitted red pants to match and boots that look as if they were borrowed from Captain Jack Sparrow of the movie series Pirates of the Caribbean.

He explains how he invented the Rhum-Rham: "Ah da style deh me use an' tek weh di whole ah di rich man dem gal… Rhum-Rham? Wah? Di girls dem jus see me go suh an' dem seh 'I mus' have him."

According to his contemporaries the dancer has infinite style; and after all he has provided QQ with dances for his two latest hits. For now he will continue promoting himself as a dancer while also furthering the careers of younger talents on the dancing scene.
