Ghandi

Destined for greatness, recording artiste and song writer Duaine Damion Bowen also known to many, as 'Ghandi' sees no bound to his musical limitation. Born and raised in Meadowvale, Gregory Park the 26 yrs old, artiste has his mind focus on his musical career.

'Ghandi' told the Portmore Star that he got into the music business by doing mini school concerts. "Mi usually sing at first - and den mi start dj at age twelve. Mi record mi first professional song at sixteen wid 'Mafia' & 'Fluxy'." 'Ghandi' also told the Portmore Star, "'Jim Brown', this song gave mi the real recognition."

At present 'Ghandi' have two popular songs that is enjoying heavy rotation on air. These are 'Message to Mama' which was produced by Ninja Man and 'I Nah Lef Out the Girls Dem' on the Clarke Booty Rhythm. The artiste also plans to release another single titled 'African Woman' on the True Love Label, produced by 'Tixie'.

'Ghandi' have also shared made appearances on huge stage shows locally and international. Some of these stages that he has graced internationally are last year's 'Sting Miami' and 'Whaddup UK Tour' in England with the likes of Merciless. Locally he has performed at 'Ninja Man Birthday Bash', 'Passa Passa', 'Sting', 'Saddle to the East', and 'Champions in Action'.

Describing his artistic style 'Ghandi' told Portmore Star, "My style of dee-jaying is a more cultural style, not saying I won't give them a little flavour, a little hardcore, but mi nah tell nuh body fi kill nuh body and mi nah discriminate the ladies dem." He also added, "Most of my lyrics, I get them from my grandmother (91yrs old), more time me a reason wid har, and mi jus put them inna words and den pon paper".

'Ghandi' told the Portmore Star, that in the music business he looks up to artistes such as Ninja Man, Louie Culture, Beenie Man, Capleton, Little Hero, Johnny P - Nuffy and God.

With a proud and positive voice 'Ghandi' told the Portmore Star, "Ghandi a nuh one song artiste, nor a one track minded artiste, as long as breath a blow inna mi, I will forever be singing good music, because good music can free the people."

'Ghandi' told the Portmore Star, that out of his music career "Mi would a love fi see mi sing a song that reach and teach people, and achieve things like build a studio, give back something to reggae, when mi achieve mi studio mi going to produce back some artiste so that a 'Ghandi' or 'Vybz Kartel' can write."
