Macka Diamond, aka Lady Mackerel, aka Charmaine Munroe,
has been rocking the charts recently with her musical
talent and lyrical finesse. Although she has been in
the music business for a number of years, through her
notable determination she has recently begun to truly
shine, showing the world her real talent and delivering
a strong message.
Munroe came onto the scene in the 80’s under
the name Lady Mackerel, but unfortunately was never
able to take off, receiving limited airplay and very
little attention from producers. Now, through her re-birth
last year under the name Macka Diamond, and assistance
from her fellow female artists Lady Saw and Lady G,
she has exploded back onto the scene with popular tunes
such as Tek Con, Know yu Fren, Try wid him and her
#1 hit, Done Already, which she considers to be her
greatest achievement.
Munroe loved to sing from a very early age, and in
her youth she used to perform in front of her school.
This is how she knew she wanted to make performing
her career and now, years later, she has realized her
dream. In the future she hopes to work with some of
the big name rap/hip-hop stars and eventually she aims
to graduate from the stage to the studio and become
a producer herself.
Munroe says the message she tries to put across with
her lyrics is one that promotes female consciousness
as well as equality for women, more specifically pertaining
to sexuality. Macka Diamond is a promising artist with
a lot of potential, she should be heading straight
for the top.
