Linford Deran Shaw also known as ‘Mr. Brilliant’ born
was raised in Cockburn Pen, (Hagley Park Road) Kingston.
Mr. Brilliant told the STAR he gave himself the name
because of his ability to perform multple skills such
as tiling, steel work and many other things. “Mi
have whole heap a trade, tiling work and steel work,
nuff little things and true mi caan do all a dem something
deh mi name myself Brilliant.”
With musical talent inscribed in his genes Mr. Brilliant
told the STAR his passion for music began a youthful
age of twenty-one. He added, ““From long
time mi have it inna mi still but mi never did a tek
it serious… Mi use to do music in my area unitil
a good friend of mine introduce mi to Shocking Vibes
and there so mi tek it serious.”
Currently Mr. Brilliant has recorded two songs on the
Shocking Vibes Label, ‘Come on everybody’ and ‘Bout
war’ on the 3000 Remix rhythm.
For a new artiste that has just surfaced Mr. Brilliant
has performed at two major shows so far; Direct Connect
held last month and Summer Sizzle held last summer.
Describing his unique style and what makes him different
from other artistes Mr. Brilliant told the STAR, “I
mostly deejay and kind of sing… in a way hardcore,
me is an all-purpose singer that’s why me brilliant… Me
is a man wey entertain the people, jack of all trades,
when me go on stage show, mi know what the people dem
want so me deliver it to dem”
Mr. Brilliant told the STAR he receives inspiration
from two of dancehall’s finest Beenie Man and
Bounty Killer. “From a longer time me a say Beenie
Man and Bounty Killer because the way dem artiste deh
tek to another level dem really inspire me.”
With strong will and determination Mr. Brilliant insists
he will reach far in the music business. He added, “From
now until a next level still, cuz mi really nuh bust
still but mi still a work… from now until me
just a keep up the pace:”
Having reached his desired destination in the music
business Mr. Brilliant told the STAR, “Well right
now mi would a like to achieve a house and car and
can help people, after dat mi will think bout studio
and help one and one around mi.”
