TEH-REBL

By: Kerry-Ann Bercher, Go-Local Jamaica Writer

Name: Devon Anthony Reynolds

Stage Name: Teh-Rebl (Came from his alias 'Terry')

Musical Background: "It's the love of it", he said as he recalled his musical beginnings in writing poems at age 10 and adopting the habit of writing poems and not finishing them. His father owned a sound system on which he and his brothers used to practice their musical skills. He grew to love music and in his late 20's, Teh-Rebl decided to take on a musical approach to his writing.

To what label are you currently signed?: "Currently, I am not signed. However, I am the co-owner of the Heavy Artillery Records label."

Performances: None to date.

Most embarrassing moment: "A friend and I were at Starfish and went on stage to perform a song that was written that same day. However, when the rhythm started to play, we totally forgot the words to the song!"

What do you write about in your songs? "It's what I feel, what I see, what I know, what I believe in. Although I can write Dancehall lyrics, I stick to culture because that's where the meditation is."

Collaborations: "I haven't done any collaborations with any established artiste yet, however, I have done a collaboration with a fellow young artiste called Eloquence."

What are you working on currently? : Teh-Rebl is still employed and manages his time between work, recording and completing his diploma in Business Administration. When asked how it has been for him, he replied, "To me, it's a challenge and I like challenges. That's what helps you to move forward in life."

Plans for his musical career: "The sky is the limit! (Laughs). I plan to do music full time and use my music to make a difference and send positive messages."

Advice for young artistes: "Stay focused and write good, clean lyrics."
