Tuesday Nite Live
Tonight, Tuesday Nite Live presents another talented
set of artistes: Robert Dubwise, Aluta Continua,
Katrina, and Charlie Bobus.
ROBERT DUBWISE
Robert Dubwise Browne is one of Jamaica's most
prolific guitarists. His sound is a pleasing mix
of reggae, contemporary jazz, rock, and dancehall
styles.
This spring, Browne embarked on an international,
40-city tour with reggae legend, Jimmy Cliff, and
he also performed at the prestigious Air Jamaica
Jazz and Blues Festival, as well as the St. Lucia
Jazz Festival.
Robert has also played on recordings for Joseph
Hill (Culture), Burning Spear, Shaggy, Rayvon, Rik
Rok, and many other popular artistes. He has also
toured extensively with Damian and Julian Marley,
and with Shaggy.
He is the executive producer of his debut CD, Robert
Dubwise: Birth (Dubz House 2004). Guest artistes
include famed saxophonist, Dean Fraser and veteran
guitarist, Ernie Ranglin. Visit his Myspace to hear
his songs and learn more about Robert Dubwise.
ALUTA CONTINUA
Aluta Continua is a Pan-African phrase, which was
used in the 1960s by revolutionary thinkers, such
as Nelson Mandela of the A.N.C.
In South Africa, it means the struggle continues.
Aluta Continua brings the universal message of equality,
love and justice to the world within reggae music.
The band has a classic reggae style, with hard-core
rockers bass lines, which gives the band a current,
yet original sound for the 21st century.
KATRINA
Katrina has recorded and toured as a back-up singer
for Sinead O'Connor, and is finally striking out
as a solo songstress.
This young Jamaican singer/songwriter also composed
and produced most of the songs on her debut album,
which is close to completion.
She has lent her vocals as a back-up singer for
a number of artistes including Luciano, Richie Spice,
and Tami and Tessanne Chin.
CHARLIE BOBUS
After getting into a lot of fights, he isolated
himself and started writing only motivational and
reality-type tunes.
It was while on one of his performances outside
of his community at Jamaica Vibes that he changed
one of his songs to poetry and performed dub poetry
live on stage for the first time.
Bringing the message of Inspirator Intl., Charlie
Bobus has been performing all over the island including
Jamaica Vibes, Poetry Society Monthly Jam, Fiwi
Sinting Festival in Natures Way, Portland, and many
more.

Live Music at the Quad!
Groit Music hosts a weekly live music evening at
Christopher's at the Quad, on a Tuesday night from
7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Tonight, entertainment rests in the hand of a group
of talented musicians performing an exciting fusion
of Jazz and features the incredible talent of Dean
on Steel Pan!
Completing the band are Aeon Hoilett (band leader
of C-Sharp) on bass guitar, Jerome Tulloch (band
member of Airplai) on keyboard, and Akil on drums.
Every week, a different group is featured and the
night focuses on excellent musicianship of a Jazz
improvisational quality. You can expect a wide range
of musical styles, but Jazz improvisation is the
heartbeat of the evening.
The first night was held on Tuesday, June 27, and
featured Seretse & the True Democrats. "The
people danced and really enjoyed themselves. It
was a great atmosphere; a great night," said
Seretse Small.
The idea was the brainchild of Brian "Ribbie"
Chung, Christopher Chin, and Seretse Small. They
had always wanted to do something like this and
are very enthusiastic that the idea has finally
materialized.
