A twisted good time

With the summer holidays officially beginning, University students and other party fanatics flocked the weekly dance party last week Thursday at the UWI’s students’ union, where they unwound and released some stress.

The party kicked off at 7 p.m.  with the likes of Asylum DJs Bloodline and Bass Odyssey. For students with UWI/Utech ID’s, the cost was only $100, while other patrons paid $250.

Although it took a while for some people to get busy on the dance floor, the fans were given some great dancehall selections. Hits from the past such as “Batty Rider” by Buju Banton and “Return of the Mack”, a sing-over by local group ARP were among the tunes spun by the bloodline disco that got patrons hungry and in the mood for some serious bruckings. Shortly after, the Asylum DJ’s took their turn in showing off their class and they had the place in a daze when they began to spin some crazy re-mixes such as Vybz Kartel’s “Sweet to di Belly” on a Celine Dion Rhythm among other mixes.

The event was well supported, since many students are still on campus because of summer classes and other reasons.

If you’re looking to chill out, beat some juice and have a great time, the Thursday vibes inside of the UWI Student’s Union is definitely an option.
