PARTY!!! ATI 2008
Jermaine Bailey, Go-Jamaica
(Aug-11-2008)
Appleton Treasure Island (ATI) 2008, a series of nine blissful parties happened over Emancipation Weekend, July 31 to August 3, 2008 at various venues along Negril’s 9 mile beach. With this annual festivity now a part of Jamaica’s official party calendar, patrons made reservations at hotels from as early as January this year.
With most patrons arriving on Friday, Norman Manley Boulevard was buzzing with bikini-clad girls and guys in beach shorts and white t-shirts. HIP-HOP JOUVERT was held Friday between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm. This party was a paint and water party, with 16,000 gallons of water being sprayed on persons who where already covered from head to toe in glowing yellow and white paint. The selection of soca and hip hop music was great and the vibe of the party was energized with the continuous flow of free booze and food on the sandy location of WAVZ. Shuttle buses were provided to transport patrons back and forth from party.
