Lacovia High School showed that they will be a strong contender this season after they came away with an emphatic 2-1 home victory over St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) in the 2008 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel DaCosta Cup School boy football competition on Monday.
This is Lacovia’s first home victory against STETHS.
Kemar Brown opened the scoring for Lacovia in the 3rd minute, while Delandrew Steven doubled the lead in the 47th minute.
STETHS got a consolation in the 72nd minute courtesy of their ace striker Deshawn Brown.
The win puts Lacovia, who drew 0-0 with Munro College on Saturday, on ten points from four games played and to the top of Zone E.
Lacovia Coach, Lance Morgan, was happy with the result and praised his players for a hard fought game.
"It's a good win for us. I told my players just to go out there, work hard and finish the opportunities. That's exactly what they did and I'm quite satisfied," he said.
In the day’s other games, in Zone E Munro came from behind to beat Maggotty by a similar margin, while bottom placed teams Balaclava and Black River drew 1-1.
