Purchasing Your First Home

(Jun-16-2005)

While we all have an idea of the kind of house we would all like, finding the money to purchase that home is usually a problem. As a first time purchaser, it is now easier to own your dream home with a JN Home Start Mortgage from theJamaica National Building Society.

Designed specifically for first time homeowners 18 years and over, the JN Home Start Mortgage Plan allows you to borrow up to 95% of the valuation or purchase price (whichever is lower) of the house you want to buy, at an interest rate of 14 % per annum. Also, there is the option of a pre-approvedmortgage facility which allows you to get a pre-approved mortgage offer before you actually go house hunting. This offer, coupled with your available cash, will determine the price range in which you should look. There is no application fee or commitment fee and you do not have to be a JN customer to qualify. However, you will be required to open a savings account to facilitate the loan processing. Loans are usually approved within 48 hours upon submission to the Mortgage Department providing that all the documents for processing are in order.

At Jamaica National, we recognize that buying a house is a major life-changing experience. As you search for the home of your dreams, remember to speak to a JN mortgage officer who will help you find a mortgage that best suits your lifestyle and bank account.
