Carolee English-Gray believes in teachers should have fun in the classroom
(May-28-2007)

Carolee English-Gray is one outstanding teacher at the Angels Primary School. The school, which started operation four years ago is located in Angels Estate in Spanish Town, St. Catherine and has a complement of 1025 students enrolled.

Carolee English-Gray, a thirty four year old grade four teacher shared her belief in having fun in the classroom. "I am aware of the fact that they (students) can be testy at times, however teacher and students can have fun in the teaching and learning environment," stated English-Grey.

She finds much humour, for instance, in the responses given by students to questions poised in the learning situation. This gets rid of tension and also aids communication. She noted that any subject can produce a certain amount of levity, and it does not have to be drama, music or physical education. According to her, she often tells her students jokes and that in such a setting mutual respect is engendered.

This vibrant young teacher describes herself as a jovial person by nature and that as such she is able to value and appreciate the lighter things in life.
