2007/8 Gleaner Online Go-Local Jamaica in Schools Project
(Sep-20-2007)
Calling all students and schools interested in bringing their communities online!
The fourth annual Gleaner Online Go-Local Jamaica in Schools Project is inviting schools to compete for prizes, by documenting living conditions in their communities’ in relation to the eight United Nations (UN) Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
During October 2007 to March 2008 participating schools will be handed assignments on a monthly basis, encouraging students to venture out into their communities to report on MDG Goals such as education and health. They can choose to work in any format they like: text, photographs, audio and even video – The Gleaner will host these FOR FREE!
Students and schools will then be able to upload their content directly onto our website using easy-to-use blogging software – while we will be able to provide some technical support.
Free webpages will be made available to school communities – students, teachers, PTAs and alumni groups – who will be able to upload further news and information from campaigns to raise funds to fix a leaky roof, or their challenge for sporting titles such as Champs or the Manning and DaCosta Cups.
